The social institution under which a man and a woman establish their decision to live as husband and wife is known as marriage. The wedding ceremony that may be presided by a religious entity or a legal authority is usually followed by a banquet or a simple feast, which is called the wedding reception. Here, the groom is traditionally asked to deliver a speech to the bride. Here’s an example of a groom’s speech to bride.

A good start for your speech is something along these lines: “Good evening, ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to our wedding reception! I hope that you’re all enjoying yourselves on this special day. It feels great to see so many of our friends and relatives gathered here today to help us celebrate this momentous occasion. Truthfully, I must say that it would not have been the same without you – just an awful lot cheaper, yes, but a lot less memorable! And so, on behalf of my beautiful bride, thank you so much.”

In this example, you will notice the bit of humor that was injected. This is what’s going to keep the listeners interested and awake. Keep in mind, though, to use humor sparingly and to never ever make jokes at the bride’s expense or include smutty jokes that won’t be appreciated by some of the guests.

After welcoming and thanking your guests, what you can do is to share brief narratives of how your love story came to be. In your anecdote, you may narrate stories about the circumstances when you and your bride first met, how you gathered up the courage to ask her out, what went about during your very first date, how you gradually fell in love with each other, what made you realize that you wanted to spend the rest of your life with her, how you proposed to her, how you felt when she said yes, and the preparations you made for your wedding day.

End your speech by addressing your bride. You may say something along these lines: “Finally, I wish to address my beautiful bride and tell her just how lucky I feel for having her in my life. To my wife, thank you for choosing me for your husband. You cannot fathom how your sweet “yes” has made me the happiest man in the world. On my part, I promise to love you always and forever.”
